These are patient, gentle pets for responsible children and adults. They can become very tame if handled young. Ours have free run of the back yard during the day and penned at night for protection from predators.
We decided on poultry for our son when he showed interested in getting a pet of his own. At age 7 he is able to take care of them primarily on his own.
